Code of Conduct

With the significant growth of the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry unit, additional organization seems to be inevitable. With that in mind, the following expectations are being put in place so that all can continue to enjoy the camaraderie and experiences involved with Civil War Re-enacting.

.) All troops are expected to arrive at re-enactments with 100 rounds rolled and filled. Each trooper is responsible for providing their own powder, caps and cream of wheat.

.) Reveille will be at 7:00am on Saturday and Sunday, with a morning formation at 8:30am. Troops will turn out with full battle gear, and a weapons count and inspection can be conducted at this time. In addition, troopers will be assigned to squads for the entire weekend at this time; and the time for drill will be announced. Any questions about tactics, weapons, repairs needed, or other Regimental business can be conducted at this time, allowing time to address problems after formation.

.) After Reveille and before formation, troops can breakfast in camp. This meal is often a potluck of whatever troops bring. If you wish to have breakfast cooked in camp, please be willing to throw something into the pot to share. During this time, the camp will be put in order to appear as authentic as possible prior to morning formation.

.) Side arms will be loaded approximately one hour prior to the battle. Keep in contact with the NCO's to learn when this will occur.

.) Smokers, please try to use "period" tobacco products during the time when the public will be in camp.

.) Do not throw aluminum cans into the fire. They do not burn will and they look bad.

.) Quiet time in camp is from 1:00am until Reveille. Please be considerate of our comrades who have turned in for the night.

.) Consumption of alcoholic beverages (even a nip from Doc's flask!) at any time is strictly forbidden between the hours of 3:00am and the battle. Violation of this rule will automatically prevent a trooper form taking the field for battle that day. After the battle, please put any beverage into a "period" cup because the public often follows us back to camp.

.) The time between the morning formation and drill, and the time after the battle is free time for you to pursue enjoyments or look after your gear. It is suggested that the Sharp's be cleaned ASAP after the battle.

.) All unit members will contribute with the general duties and will therefore be expected to "lend a hand" when needed.

.) Though the chain of command is an honorary status, professional courtosey and respect will be given to all unit members and their families. Verbal and or physical displays will not be tollerated.
